Critique (Spring Break)

Art Vocabulary and Craftsmanship
Describe the technique applied – also describe dodging and burning; depth of field, etc.

This photo has a great depth of field, and utilizes the rule of thirds. I burned the grass around the fox to eliminate the distracting elements.

I utilized line in this photograph with the old wood on the barn doors, which is also in agreement with the rule of thirds. The color scheme is interesting because it contains the complementary colors between green and red, which really adds interest. There is some nice texture on the old barn, what with the rotting wood and all. This photo also has some nice balance between the fox and the intersecting design on the barn.

Interpret: What is the photographer’s intent?  Does it convey an idea or message? Is there a mood?

My intent was to really just capture this little baby fox without getting mauled to death by it's mother. The color scheme is more muted reds and greens, which takes away from the intensity and adds a more calm mood.

Critique

Judge: evaluate the success of this piece.

I personally like this image a lot, I feel the subject matter is more interesting  than my usual subject matter, and the printed version is better because the highlights are not as blown out.
