2nd 9 weeks journal 11

11. What makes a great portrait? There is no one right answer to this, but you will certainly have a
few ideas of an approach that is right for you.


I think that a great portrait is probably a candid one, or one that is taken without the subject being fully aware of the photographers presence.  Sometimes portraits with the subject looking at the camera can be powerful, however most of the time it looks really fake, like, no one is that happy.  A great portrait is a combination of lighting, facial expression, and body position.
